The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State offers a wide array of educational opportunities from structured degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to single-course lifelong education.
The Undergraduate degree program allows students the option of pursuing a Bachelors of Science in the areas of Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or both at the same time.
The Masters degree program has both thesis and non-thesis options in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Networking, with several research area concentations available to choose from.
Studies in the Ph.D. degree program, as well as the Masters program, bring students in contact with world renowned research scientists, as well as the opportunity to be a part of our prestigious Research Centers, Research Groups, and Laboratories.
NC State University is consistently ranked among the top 100 colleges in the United States and our Electrical Engineering program is in the top 25 of undergraduate programs for schools whose highest degree offered is a Ph.D.
Our undergraduate population is slightly under 23,000 students, with approximately 24% of them enrolled in NC State's College of Engineering. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering represents a sizable amount of these engineering students, being the second largest department in the college. The department has a population of approximately 1400, of which about 900 are undergraduate students and 500 are graduate students.
