Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

The NC State Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is committed to enhancing your relationship with our Department, our current students and your fellow alumni. This site is your source to make connections, keep up with departmental events, and learn more about how you can invest your time and interest back into the Department. In order to fulfill this commitment, we have established the following policies with the intention to fairly balance the exchange of information in the private sections of our site.

Departmental Responsibilities

The Department agrees to:

1. restrict access to the site's private sections to alumni with active accounts.
2. collect the personal data that you may volunteer while using our services.
3. remove access from any alumnus in violation of the site's policies.

The Department agrees not to:

1. automatically log personal data or link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals.
2. link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal data about specific individuals.
3. use cookies to store personal data except the information necessary to verify and maintain a connection while the alumnus is "logged in".
4. share your information with any other campus unit excepting a courtesy notification of contact information change to Donor Records for the convenience of our alumni.
5. include links to third party web service providers.

User Responsibilities

The user agrees to:

1. maintain an active account by "publishing" to the directory at least one piece of accurate contact information from the following list:

   •	home email	•	business email
   •	home address	•	business address
   •	home telephone number	•	business telephone number

2. maintain the privacy of their personal information through the available web tool at the "Configure Privacy Options" link.
3. maintain accurate contact information for themselves.

The user agrees not to:

1. use the information in the alumni database for commercial gain.
2. share information about any alumnus with any entity engaged in the marketing of personal data.
3. share their login and password.

Understandings

1. Our Web site enables you to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others. When you do so, other visitors may collect your data for communicating with you.
2. We may also collect information about you from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organizations. Specifically, this understanding is intended to inform you that we exchange contact information about you with the University's Alumni and Donor Records division so that you do not have to update your contact information in both places.
3. If we wish to use your personal data for new purposes, we offer you the means to consent to those new purposes by indicating in a box at the point on the site where personal data is collected.
