The ECE & CSC GSA invite you to participate in the Joint ECE-CSC Fall 2009 Research Seminar.

Who is expected to present?
All ECE and CSC students who are currently working on a research work are invited to present their recent accomplishments.

How is possible to participate?
All presentations need to have a summary. These summaries will be gathered and a seminar proceedings will be prepared.

Is there a guideline for the presentation summaries?
Yes, there is. Please check out the web page for the seminar at http://students.engr.ncsu.edu/ecegsa/seminar/fall2009/

What is the submission deadline?
It has been set as 20th of October, Tuesday (11:59 pm ET).

Is there going to be lunch?
Definitely!!! There will be catered lunch. Check out the web site for the exact schedule.

What are the prizes?
All presenters will be awarded with an ECE or CSC T-Shirt. There will be several sessions during the seminar. Our judges will determinethe best presentation of each session and as the ECE & CSC GSA, we will be giving them special prizes.

I am a first year grad student/ I am a non-thesis MS student, would the sessions be beneficial for me?"
Of course!!! Even if you directly get to work/ in your next graduate years, you anyway need to make presentations. Here, you can watch how people try to explain their work and what kind of questions judges ask which will add to your experience.

Maybe, you change your mind and want to pursue a PhD... Which research groups are currently existing in the ECE/CSC? Which of them conduct research work that you might want to deepen? You can find the answer for such questions...

"My research results are not that outstanding/ I just started my work and have only preliminary results/ I might not be able to reply all the hard questions by the judges..."
Again, there is no reason for being afraid. ECE/CSC Research Seminars provide a friendly environment to communicate your academic research background with the other graduate students. All levels of research can be presented. The goal of the seminar is to foster a venue for an exchange of ideas and to improve communication effectiveness.

What type of presentations are expected?
You can prefer either doing an oral presentation or a poster presentation. In both cases though, you need to submit the presentation summary for the proceedings. Posters are limited to 3'x5' and power point presentations are restricted to 12 minutes. Check out our web site for the details.

"I have the presentation summary ready, where should I send it? Should I send my presentation with it?"
All presentation summaries should be sent to Mustafa Berke Yelten (mbyelten@ncsu.edu). You don't need to send your presentation in advance, just bring it with you on the seminar date via your USB Flash Drive.
