This week's FREEDM Seminar will feature a talk by Steven Craig of Progress Energy on distribution system operation and control. Mr. Craig's bio is attached below. The talk will be held from 12:00 to 1:00pm in MRC room 136 on Wednesday, October 21.

Steven A. Craig, PE is a 2000 graduate in electrical engineering from NC State University.  He has been with Progress Energy for 10 years serving exclusively in the Distribution department, specializing in reliability, protection, and system design and operations.  Steven is a licensed professional engineer in North and South Carolina and is currently pursuing his Masters degree in electrical engineering through the FREEDM systems center at NC State University in Raleigh.

Progress Energy, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. It uses coal, oil, hydroelectric, natural gas, and nuclear power resources, as well as various alternative energy resources, including swine waste and other plant or animal sources, solar, hydrogen, biomass, and landfill-gas technologies. The company serves textile, chemical, metal, paper, food, rubber and plastics, wood products, and electronic machinery and equipment sectors, as well as phosphate rock mining and processing, electronics design and manufacturing, and citrus and other food processing sectors.
