Morse functions are those that have only non-degenerate, and therefore isolated, critical points. Morse-Bott functions form a larger class: Critical points are not isolated, although they do satisfy a relaxed version of a non-degeneracy condition. In this talk the main properties of Morse-Bott functions will be reviewed. Applications to dynamical systems and visualization will be discussed.
