Abstract:
The storage industry is the fastest growing segment of the IT market at 7% compared to the industry average of 4%. The growth potential has lead many companies both large and small to enter this $50B+ market. The larger companies work to provide a variety of offerings and differentiate themselves from one another. Smaller companies are entering the market with numerous point and appliance oriented products.
Understanding the dynamics of this business & engineering world can help both professors and students relate their research, teaching, & career efforts to the storage and information management worlds. This talk will discuss technological, business, and political trends impacting this industry and relate them to the academic environment.
Speaker Biography:
Stephen Worth is the technical director for Global Software Development in the Storage Products Operations group at EMC. His team works with EMC engineering organizations developing engineering, educational, & visibility programs to grow EMC presence and engineering productivity in world-wide markets. Steve serves as the technical liaison between participants helping to define, plan, and implement global projects. He is based out of EMC’s
