The research performed in this group focuses on utilizing the negative differential resistance (NDR) devices designed and fabricated by Dr. Jim Tour and Dr. Mark Reed.  A cross section of a test structure designed and fabricated at Yale is shown to the right.

The NDR diode is actually a collection of molecules that assemble on a gold surface within a nanopore.  The nanopore is created within the silicon nitride film previously deposited.

The NDR molecules assemble and form a bridge between two gold surfaces within the nanopore.  The image to the right illustrates the configuration of the molecules within the pore.
