Application Deadlines

Semester US Citizen, Permanent Resident, and International Applicants
Fall December 15
Spring July 1
Summer No admissions
* US citizens and Permanent Residents: under extenuating circumstances, exceptions may be approved by the Department. *

The posted deadline is the last date that you may:
  • pay your application fee
  • complete your application in ApplyYourself
  • submit all required application materials
  • log into the ECE online tool called GradWatch to enter required information

When you apply, be prepared with your Statement of Purpose and transcripts so that they can be uploaded. See http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/graduate/admissions for Admissions Requirements. One to two business days after applying, you will receive an email from the Graduate School with further instructions for completing the application process.

This will include logging into an ECE online tool called GradWatch to indicate your research area of interest.

In addition to the GradWatch forms, required application materials include 3 recommendation letters, TOEFL scores, GRE scores, original transcripts, and statement of purpose. NO PAPER DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED (this includes recommendation letters).

Applicants who attempt to apply after the deadline are denied. If you have applied after the deadline in error and wish for your application to be moved to the following semester, please contact the Graduate School at graduate_applications@ncsu.edu.

Review of your application does not begin until all of your application materials and credentials have been received, including completion of GradWatch forms.

Since departmental funding is offered to the most qualified students at the earliest possible date, applicants are encouraged to complete the application and submit all supporting documentation on line well ahead of the deadlines listed above.

Review Completion

Review of your application for consideration for admission begins when all materials have been received.

Do not send materials in paper format, materials that are out of date, or materials that you intend to re-do at a later date. Once ALL materials are received, your application is marked complete and is forwarded for review for consideration for admission. There is no "re-do."

Once a department decision is made, the Graduate School is notified of your acceptance status into the program. You may track your status through ApplyYourself. Do not contact the Department as the Graduate School grants the final decision on your admission.

NOTE: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering does not admit any new students for Summer Sessions.
