Congratulations Spring 2014 Graduates! It is our privilege to manage the ceremony honoring graduating students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering this spring. We hope you find the arrangements satisfactory. We are currently working to finalize the details of the ceremony. We will continue to update this page as the details come together.
Tickets will be limited and required for the Spring 2014 ECE Commencement Ceremony.
In previous ceremonies, we have had to limit the number of tickets to 4-5 per graduating student. At this time, students are still applying for graduation, so we have not yet determined the limit for this semester. We ask that you please try to make plans based on this estimate.
We do make the ceremony available live via the web, so family members who are unable to attend the ceremony will be able to watch and enjoy.
More information will be published as plans are finalized.
McKimmon Center will open for guests approximately one half hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Please no food or beverage in the ballroom. Marshals will be standing by to assist guests requiring accommodation for a disability or any assistive devices or services. If you need assistance, please notify the nearest marshal. Marshals are distinguished by a name tag with a red ribbon.
Parking for the ceremony will be available for free in parking lot outside of the McKimmon Center.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has hired a professional photographer to capture the moment each student receives their diploma. A proof photo will be sent to the graduating student’s permanent address with information on how to purchase prints.
You may purchase your cap, gown and tassel at the bookstore. Grad students need a hood appropriate for their degree.
Graduating students should arrive at the McKimmon Center in academic apparel no later than 50 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. This is important since you will be immediately organized by degree program. Marshals will be standing by to direct you to the line up area.
Staff from the Student Services Office will be waiting there with a printed card with your name and a number on it. The card indicates your place in line.
Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony in the rooms along the auditorium. We hope that you and your guests will take the opportunity to join the ECE faculty, staff, and fellow graduates to celebrate before departing. There is to be no food or drink brought back into the main auditorium.
Diplomas will be mailed to your home mailing address. You can update this address through your MyPack Portal. Diplomas will be mailed around mid-June.
