1. Bilirubin arrives in liver, is converted from fat-soluble to water-soluble.

2. Conjugated bilirubin goes to gut in bile

3. Urobilinogen produced by gut flora is reabsorbed to liver - some leaves in stool.

4. Urobilinogen returned to liver goes into systemic circulation and some is excreted by kidneys (5).
