Thousands expected to attend NC State Engineering Career Fair

Feb 2, 2009

The Engineering Career Fair at NC State is one of the largest of its kind in the nation. Thousands of top engineering students and hundreds of employers will converge on North Carolina State University in early February for one of the nation’s largest career fairs for engineering students.

The Engineering Career Fair at NC State brings engineering students together with top employers looking to make connections and fill jobs and internships. The fair will be held Feb. 4-5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McKimmon Center on the NC State campus. Media coverage is invited.

“The Engineering Career Fair at NC State connects some of the nation’s brightest engineering students with innovative companies and government organizations,” said Dr. Louis A. Martin-Vega, dean of the College of Engineering. “There is no better place for employers to meet the leaders who will engineer a better tomorrow.”

The Career Fair has enjoyed steady growth since its inception in 1998. Originally held as a one-day, once-a-year event that attracted about 60 companies and 1,500 students, the fair has grown into a two-day, twice-a-year event that brought in more than 340 employers and 4,400 students in fall 2008. Previous career fairs have drawn students from as far away as New York and Texas, and the event has also proven popular for job-seeking alumni and other visitors.

“The growth of this career fair has made it one of the top events of its kind in the country,” said Brian Koehler, director of the Career Fair. “At a time when many companies are struggling, our career fair helps them find the outstanding engineering talent they need to be successful.”
