Title:               MVRC ---- Monolithic/Modularized Voltage Regulator Channel


Abstract:       To achieve higher power density and higher order of design flexibility with unlimited phase number, the concept of Monolithic / Modularized Voltage Regulator Channel (MVRC) is introduced as a generic power IC solution for both CPU and POL (Point Of Load) power

management. Novel control schemes and analog circuits are invented to implement the MVRC concept. They include: 1) a novel distributed interleaving scheme; 2) a distributed current sharing and Adaptive Voltage Position (AVP) scheme.  Tolerance analysis and hardware testing results verify that the proposed control is suitable for today and future's microprocessor power management.


The Speaker:           Xin Zhang, was born in China, 1973. He received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1994, and 1997 respectively. From 1997 to 2000, he was

an electrical engineer at Zhongxing telecom LTD. (ZTE) in Shenzhen, China. Beginning from August 2000, Mr. Xin Zhang worked as a research assistant in Center of Power Electronics System (CPES) at Virginia Tech to pursue his Ph.D. degree. From January 2005 to now he works as a research assistant in Semiconductor Power Electronics Center (SPEC).
