The University Payroll Office has announced that effective July 1, 2002, graduate students paid on the monthly payroll may enroll in the direct deposit program. The Payroll Office listed the following advantages to using the new service:

• Money is automatically deposited into the employee’s designated account on payday, saving a trip to the bank to manually deposit a check.
  
• Employee does not have to be on campus on payday to receive payment.
  
• A payroll advice statement is issued, giving the same detail as check stubs regarding current and year-to-date gross, taxes, and deductions.
  
• Most banks, nationwide, are participants in the direct deposit program.
  
• Enrollment is optional; cancellation is optional.

Direct deposit enrollment, subsequent changes to bank information, and cancellation of enrollment requires the completion of a NC State Direct Deposit Enrollment/Change Form, which can be downloaded by clicking here. With the exception of December, the NC State Direct Deposit Enrollment/Change form must be received by the 10th of the month in order to be effective. Due to an early payday, the deadline for submitting the form in December is the first workday of December.

Graduate assistants who experience a break in service must re-enroll in direct deposit following the service break; i.e., a graduate assistant whose appointment is terminated on January 31 but re-appointed March 1; or, graduate teaching assistants whose appointment breaks (is suspended) between mid-May and mid-August.
