ECE Open Seminar Series continues with U. of Illinois Prof. Adesida, director of the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory, on March 3 at 3:30 pm EGRC-136

February 26, 2004
Prof. I. Adesida, Director of the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from U. of Illinois in Urbana-Champgain, will give a talk on "Processing and Device Issues in GaN and Related Compounds" Wednesday March 3, at 3:30 pm EGRC-136. His work on photoelectrochemical (PEC) etching of GaN as a tool for material characterization and device fabrication and revelations of defect structures especially edge and screw dislocations in n-GaN will be discussed. He will also describe recent developments on thermally stable ohmic and Schottky contacts, inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE) for device fabrication and back-side via-hole etching. Lastly, results on DC, RF, CW power and microwave noise for AlGaN/GaN HFETs will be presented and discussed in the context of GaN material quality.
