Board of Trustees approves chancellor search committee

Raleigh - The NC State Board of Trustees unanimously approved Friday morning a 13-member committee of trustees, faculty, staff, students and alumni that will conduct a search for candidates to replace Chancellor Marye Anne Fox. Fox, who has led the university for nearly six years, was named chancellor of the University of California, San Diego, on April 12. She begins that position on Aug. 16. Those appointed to serve on the search committee are:
  • Robert B. Jordan III, committee chair, member of the Board of Trustees and president, Jordan Lumber & Supply, Inc.
  • Dr. Winser E. Alexander, professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • D. McQueen Campbell III, member of the Board of Trustees and president, Campbell Development Inc.
  • Tony Caravano, NC State student body president
  • Dr. Dennis M. Daley, chair, NC State faculty and professor of political science and public administration
  • Ann B. Goodnight, member of the Board of Trustees and director, community relations, SAS Institute
  • Dr. Todd R. Klaenhammer, University Distinguished Professor and William Neal Reynolds Professor of Food Science
  • Marvin J. Malecha, dean, College of Design
  • Laura D. Massengill, chair-elect, NC State Staff Senate
  • Burley Mitchell Jr., incoming president, NC State Alumni Association
  • Wendell Murphy, member of the Board of Trustees and chairman of the board and CEO, MurFam Enterprises, LLC
  • Steve F. Warren, member of the Board of Trustees and managing partner, Gateway Management
  • Peaches Gunter Blank, chair of the Board of Trustees, voting ex officio member
P.J. Teal, assistant to the chancellor, will provide administrative and staff support to the committee. “This is a good committee,” Bob Jordan, chair of the search committee, said. “It’s going to be an exciting challenge and an exciting opportunity for NC State.” Board of Trustees Chair Peaches Gunter Blank added, “The 100 percent attendance on today’s conference call really reflects how important this committee is to the future of NC State.” No timeframe was given for the committee to complete its work.
