ECEGSA Wins Softball Championship

April 30, 2007
The ECE Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA) intramural softball team clinched the 2007 championship on April 26 with a 11-10 win over the Stinkhorns.

Starting their season with a 17-9 win over the MBA Sluggers (Masters of Business Admin), the team iced the game with a grand slam by Cranos Williams in the final inning.  Next they defeated the students in the Masters of Accounting program with an 11-1 win over MAC Attack 2.  Disappointingly, the third game was won by forfeit and the fourth was rained out.  But three decisive wins in the regular season were enough to earn them the #1 seed in the playoffs.

In the first playoff game they faced a much improved MAC Attack 2, winning 9-4.  In game two, fielding on the part of the Turner House team was a major obstacle, but they pulled off a 12-5 win.  In the championship game, the Stinkhorns took an early lead putting the team down 8-2 in the third inning.  A rally beginning with a home run by Chris Healy brought them to within three points of the Stinkhorns as they entered the bottom of the final inning.

They quickly overcame the deficit and finished off the Stinkhorns with Kyle Luthy hitting a single which drove Brandon Conover in to home for the win.  ECE proudly congratulates the 2007 Intramural Softball Championship Team:
