The Alcoa Foundation has donated $27,500 to NCSU to be implemented in the
Women in Science and Engineering Living and Learning Together program. The program is a collaboration between University Housing, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Natural Resources, the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the College of Textiles and opened its door in August 2003. The program is designed to give first- and second-year women in the fields of science and engineering a community to live and study with who share common interests.
Dean Masnari greatly appreciated the gift, noting that it "will help us recruit and retain women in engineering.”
The
Alcoa Foundation has always taken a great interest in enhancing the communities where they are located.
