Mesut Baran has been awarded $121,055 by EnerNex Corporation for research on Load Modeling and State Estimation Methods for Power Distribution Systems.

The award will run from August 8th, 2007 to August 7th, 2008.

Research Abstract - Effective management of distribution systems requires analysis tools that can estimate the state of the system (the operating condition). This project aims at development of two new analysis tools for this purpose. The main tool is the state estimator that will use the historical data and the real-time data to estimate the state of the system which is the voltages at all the nodes of a distribution feeder. The second tool will be a load estimator which will characterize the loads based on limited customer load data to be obtained from automated meter readers.
