Recognizing the achievements of its members is an important part of the mission of the IEEE. Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for one of the Institute's most prestigious honors, elevation to IEEE Fellow.

The IEEE Board of Directors, at its meeting on 18 November 2007, elevated Dr. Gianluca Lazzi and Dr. Hamid Krim to IEEE Fellows, effective 1 January 2008.  Dr. Lazzi is recognized for contributions to bioelectromagnetics and implantable devices.  Dr. Krim is recognized for contributions to statistical signal processing, multiscale analysis, estimation and detection, and image analysis.

Within the next two months, they will receive their IEEE Fellow pin and certificate. Both serve as visible recognition of their elevation to the highest grade of membership in the IEEE.
