Current Research
The overarching theme of my research is exploring novel filtering approaches based on Polarization Gratings(PGs) that yield simple, low-cost, polarization-insensitive alternatives to conventional optical filtering techniques.
Taking advantage of the unique properties of PGs (including polarization insensitivity, 100% diffraction efficiency, wide tuning range, modulation with small applied voltage, etc), we can address the optical filtering needs for various application areas and in terms of key filtering parameters. Some of the key parameters we focus on include: net throughput, bandwidth, transition width, tuning range, stop-band noise, physical size and cost of the system. Our filters can be useful for a wide range of application areas including compact spectroscopy, remote sensing, hyper spectral imaging, medical imaging, and telecom networks.
