Dr. Dinesh Divakaran

| Biography

Associate Director, Office of Technology Transfer, NC State University

Dr. Divakaran's interests include innovation acceleration, research translation, technology forecasting/assessment, intellectual property development, technology valuations, commercialization, entrepreneurship development, facilitating startups and building triple-helix alliances between university, industry and government.

At NCSU Technology Transfer, Dr. Divakaran leads a team of technology managers catalyzing innovation, strategizing intellectual property assets, commercializing technologies, facilitating startups and developing triple-helix alliances in engineering, textiles, physical & mathematical sciences, natural resources, design and education. He also directs commercialization efforts in software across the university and to date, has facilitated launch of 15 high tech start-ups, majority of which have raised substantial funding and/or transitioned innovation from academia to the marketplace. Dr. Divakaran currently serves as a SBIR/STTR Reviewer & Panelist with NSF and NIH.

Prior to joining NCSU, Dr. Divakaran worked in technology transfer at the Texas A&M University System and earlier at the University of South Florida, where he also served as an Adjunct Faculty of Electrical Engineering. At USF, he taught various courses and conducted research in wireless communications, DSP and VLSI design. Dr. Divakaran is a member of IEEE, AAAS, North Carolina Society of Engineers and Raleigh Engineers Club.
