The Program:
NC State University at Raleigh, North Carolina hosts a 10-week summer research program for outstanding rising junior and senior undergraduate students. We offer research experiences to work on topics related to energy storage, semiconductor power electronics, electrical sub-systems, solar and photovoltaic systems, processing issues related to fabrication of solar arrays and semiconductor power devices, in addition to education . Under this program, undergraduates from other institutions work with faculty mentors and graduate students representing a variety of exciting research areas. The faculty team is multidisciplinary from different departments in the college of engineering, college of textiles, and physics.
The Experience:
Students participating in this program will have the opportunity to:
- work on independent projects with faculty mentors
- participate in research discussion sessions with faculty and students
- meet and talk to faculty from different specializations
- attend seminars by engineers from local industry
- tour laboratories of different specialization areas
- participate in activities of the NCSU Summer REU program
- present their research results at the NC State Undergraduate Research Symposium in August
- publish results from their research in a refereed journal or present them at a conference
- attend seminars of purpose, emphasizing the importance of achieving a diverse culture in science and engineering
Who Should Apply:
The program welcomes independent, motivated rising juniors and seniors majoring in fields related to the research projects. Women, underrepresented minorities and students from colleges and universities without significant research opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply. The applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
