How did the chicken cross the road if it was only an egg?

To celebrate National Engineer's Week, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in cahoots with E-Council challenges the rest of the College of Engineering to help the pre-chicken avoid a smackdown.

One egg initially resting 10cm off the ground needs to be moved without human intervention to a safe nest 3 meters away. To complete the challenge the egg needs to be moved un-cracked from its pedestal to its nest.

Two "widgets" will be provided on the Monday of National E-Week. These widgets will be modified by the teams to help the pre-chicken cross the road.

Teams are comprised of at least two and no more than four members. Consideration will be given for interdisciplinary teams.

Competition begins at high noon on Monday, February 19 with the providing of the widgets. Teams have until Friday of that week to modify their widget for competition in the Smackdown which begins at 2 pm in front of Engineering Building II. You must register your team no later than Friday, February 9, 2007.

Awards will be given for teams that complete the competition with the:

• least time
• least modification
• most modification
