Nan Xue, a student in Aranya Chakrobortty‘s reseach group is the recipient of the second place prize in a student video contest organized by the IEEE Control Systems Society. The award consists of a certificate and $500, which will be presented at the IEEE CCTA conference in Hawaii.

The video introduces a new design framework called control inversion for controlling large-dimensional network systems. By exploiting the clustering property of network systems, this design framework not only improves the tractability of the design, but also provides much simpler communication topology needed for control feedback.

The 2017 IEEE CSS Video Clip Contest welcomed video clips that promote the field of control theory to a broader audience and everybody from within and from outside the controls community was invited to participate, including high school students, undergraduate and graduate students of all majors, as well as researchers from all over the world.

The winners of the IEEE CSS Video Clip Contest 2017 were determined by a jury and be presented during the CSS Video Clip Contest Awards ceremony during the 2017 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA17) on Kohala Coast, Hawaii in late August, 2017.
