Ten years ago, Pentair was looking to expand its autonomous underwater robot technology to the swimming pool market. The relationship quickly expanded to other areas of the company and across university disciplines. The company opened an innovation center on Centennial Campus in 2011 to further engagement, and the partnership with NC State continues to grow.

Dayerizadeh Awarded NSF Graduate Fellowship

Dr. Veena Misra, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State University and the Director of the NSF ASSIST Nanosystems Center has been selected by the IEEE Sensors Council as a Distinguished Lecturer for 2018-2020.

Several academia also shared their research progress under the auspice of Center for Advanced Electronics Through Machine Learning (CAEML) since its formation in 2016. Prof. Paul Franzon discussed how ML could shorten IC physical design step through the use of surrogate model.

Raleigh has climbed higher up a list of the nation’s top cities for creating and keeping quality jobs, and N.C. State University is given significant credit for the city’s economic success. The Raleigh Metropolitan Statistical Area ranked 2nd on the list of best-performing cities for 2017, according to the Milken Institute, a California think tank. The City of Oaks climbed four spots from the No. 6 ranking it held in both 2015 and 2016.

“We find passionate, dedicated NC State students who are proficient in a particular instrument or instruments,” said Shane Reagan, senior co-president of the NC State chapter of Musical Empowerment and a fourth-year studying electrical and computer engineering. “We’ve had students who are proficient in violin, piano, trumpet, flute, etc.”
